Best Spices for Runners

Good afternoon all! Did you know, that according to a 2018 CRN survey 75% of adults in the U.S. take dietary supplement. That also includes runners. But many people don’t even realize some of those supplements are in their spice rack at home.

Here is a list of the best spices for runners:

Cayenne Pepper originally came from Centeral and South America. It, like Ginger and Tumeric, is a great anti-inflamitory spice. This super spicy pepper is also high in Vitamin C, B6, and Potassium.

Ginger is one of the best spices to help with digestion. If you have an upset stomach after a long run or a rigourus workout a little Ginger tea may be just the thing to help. Tumeric is my personal go-to spice when cooking almost anything because, like I mentioned before, it is a great anti-inflamitory spice. Also, it may aid in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s.

This sweet spice originates from India. Cardamom helps to promote HDL, as well as, your glucose metabolism. Got some bad breath? Just chew some Cardamom pods. Cardamom has the ability to fight off common mouth bacteria.

Black Pepper also comes from India. This tasty spice does more than add flavor to your food. It has antioxidents that can prevent and repair damage from free radicals. Another great fact is that Black Pepper helps in the breakdown of fat cells, which aids in weightloss. If you have a cold this spice is a powerful expectorant and will help loosen up phlem.
