Greetings all!
I know I talked about Free Radicals last Saturday but, I really wanted to go a little more into the subject and provide a little more information on how they work and how to fight them.
As I stated before, Free Radicals are unpaired atoms that lack an electron. They then go looking for another atom to pair with taking their electrons causing damage to the new atom. If this process is repeated it turns into Oxidative Stress.
Oxidative stress has been linked to diseases like Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, and many others. Although Free Radicals are already part of our system there are outside factors that increase the production of Free Radicals such as:
- Pesticides
- Tobacco Smoke
- Alcohol
- Fried Foods
- Air Pollution
However, there is something you can do to help your body fight off some of these Free Radicals. Start incorporating more Antioxidants in your diet.
Antioxidants play a crucial role when it comes to fighting Free Radicals. The antioxidant molecules give Free Radicals an electron and neutralizes them. This stops them from causing more damage. So basically, eat more veggies and fruit. Also, treat your body as well as you can.
Untill next time, keep on keeping on.
